Deposition scheduling tips
Early starts
Starting before 9:00 AM? Confirm the building or office will open early enough for counsel, the witness, reporter and videographer to enter and set up before the start time.
Remote & hybrid access
Confirm whether the deposition is fully remote or hybrid, who will attend in person or remotely, and who will provide the meeting link.
Reliable internet
For remote participation, exhibit sharing or streaming, confirm reliable Wi-Fi or wired internet in the room. If unsure, ask the location to run a speed test before booking. If usable internet isn’t available, another location is the best choice.
A well-prepared room
A quiet room with ample table space, accessible power outlets and a clean background helps everyone work comfortably and keeps the recording focused.
Witness on camera
Solid colors usually look best on video; busy patterns are best avoided when possible. Clothing with a collar, lapel or similar edge makes it easier to attach a lavalier microphone cleanly.
Hair, jewelry & clear audio
Keeping long hair away from the microphone area can help prevent rustling. Large necklaces, bracelets or noisy jewelry may rub or click against the microphone, so simpler accessories are often a good choice.
